Recorded Message
[Video opens on Heiji sitting at his desk in his room. He looks somber, but determined. There are attachments to the message. Several of his closest contacts are specifically pinged for this message, including Sabriel, Steve Rogers, Kaidan Alenko, Kaito Kuroba, Glitch, Hazel, Jacob Taylor, and even a few natives. There are several files attached to the message. A couple of them are privately locked but most of them are public to anyone who cares to look; all labeled clearly by case.]
Hey, it's Hattori.
If yer seein' this message then I guess I've gone home. Sorry.
There're a few things I wanna make sure ya know since I'm not there t'pass it on myself. Attached to this is every case I've been workin' on since I got here. Some of em are solved, some still bein' investigated, but someone has t'know it.
I wanna thank everyone I've met. There ain't anyone like ya at home and despite everythin' I really got to likin' this place.
Glad I've gone home, but part o'me left here is gonna miss it.
So thanks. An' don't give up.
[There are several inconsequential cases amongst the attached files, little things he's found weird, a file on the Vaughn murder case, and one for the most recent Swear In attack.
The Vaughn casefile includes all the information they've found investigating so far:
The Swear In attack files are much smaller and merely question the connection between the culprits and the gang underground of Maurtia Falls.]
[Private to Steve and Kaidan is everything he's been working on for Archangel since he joined, including any specific details he's found in police files about the gangs, and transcriptions of his interrogations of the swear in culprits. Whatever he discovered he's passing on so they may do something concrete with it. He trusts them more than his own coworkers to do what's right.]
[Private to Hazel is a series of Kendo videos and a stern Give it a chance!.]
[To Glitch he just says Yer a bit of a brat but ye've got good instincts. Be someone they can depend on.]
[Private to Kaito is another video file.]
Hey, Kuroba. Sorry t'ask ya to do this, but I need ya to make sure my animals are taken care of. Honey left awhile ago, else I'd ask her, too. Just...want em to be okay. Osita and Waffles are pretty easy t'deal with, menace though they are-- the chicken will bully my cat if yer not careful--but Ellery's prolly not gonna know what t'do. He's still nervous 'round crowds, but he likes Riku and Winry well enough, an' I kept meanin' to take him back to Nonah to visit Amada-kun and Koromaru. The groomer I'd been takin' him to is in an address book in my room.
[He's quiet for some time, before heaving a sigh.]
I'm sorry we never talked about it. Bit of an elephant in th' room after all this time. Kinda hate that I have to go home and just...not know ya. Prolly never gonna get the chance to ask ya why.
I should've. Instead've playin' whatever this game is.
If I come back...
If I come back, promise we'll talk. Time in this world is apparently too short t'not take advantage of what we've got while we've got it.
[There's another near minute of silence before he ends the message without saying anything else.]

[There are several inconsequential cases amongst the attached files, little things he's found weird, a file on the Vaughn murder case, and one for the most recent Swear In attack.
The Vaughn casefile includes all the information they've found investigating so far:
- Two of the three men who were arrested for the murder, all around the same age (30), had no arrests or offenses prior to their arrest. They were all from lower income areas in Maurtia Falls on the opposite side of the city from where Vaughn and Watson had been attacked. The three men deeply regretted their actions and said shooting Vaughn was not "part of the plan" but they panicked as Watson was there.
- They were hired by a woman who promised them a large sum of money in return. All three men never saw a single cent and they have not seen this woman, elderly and with a scar on her upper lip.
- One of the men responsible had approached a now deceased criminal for a gun -- the same gun that was used to shoot Vaughn.
- An investigation of the discrepancy with the life insurance revealed Vaughn raised his willingly just three weeks before his death. The company said while they weren't his relatives, he was engaged to the Watson family's daughter so they might be able to clarify what prompted the bump in insurance. Mrs. Watson admitted knowing Vaughn increased his life insurance, but she suggested he was clearly looking out for his fiancee's best interests. The Watsons live in a small and cramped apartment, a step down from their former three story household. They had no pictures of Vaughn in their house, not even a picture of him with their daughter, Adelaide. Mrs. Watson refused more questioning, insisted she needs rest since she was recovering from a surgery.
- Vaughn was emotionally distraught when contacted, confused about his own death. Once calmed down he wondered if his death was the result of his life insurance. It was discovered that the money Adelaide received went directly to charities. She did not benefit from her fiance's death.
- Various images were discovered on archives online and in old newspapers featuring the Watsons. One article discussed they were once a prominent, wealthy family in Maurtia Falls, but after many bad investments they lost their fortune and are suspected to be nearly broke. The images are attached in the file, with a circle around a peculiar marking on Mrs. Watson's lip that looks a lot like a scar.
- Any recent images of Mrs. Watson show that her scar has been surgically removed. Her patient file proves she had a lip scar up until 2014.
